Baeomyces placophyllus

A distinctive species with a light grey-green to fawn thallus that becomes bright green when wet. The thallus, forming rosettes up to 5 cm across, is rather thick and may be squamulose in the centre. The distinct, glaucous green-grey lobes along the margins tend to be slightly upturned. Scattered across the centre of the thallus are lighter-coloured, flat to convex schizidia.

Thallus: C-, K+ yellow, UV+ creamy yellow

In Scotland, Baeomyces placophyllus is locally found on peaty or humus-rich gravels in upland areas. BLS distribution map
