Blindia acuta

English name: Sharp-leaved blindia

An acrocarpous moss with small, shiny, dark green or yellowish green shoots with a reddish tinge. The leaves are rigid, slender and tapering, and often somewhat curved in one direction.

Capsules mature in summer.

In Scotland, Blindia acuta has a mainly upland distribution where it is found on rock and gravelly soils in running water or besides streams and flushes, or on rock over which water seeps. BBS distribution map
