Caloplaca verruculifera

A placodioid species that may be dull lemon-yellow to bright yellow-orange and pruinose. The lobes are convex and branched with wider tips. The centre of the thallus is areolate and is covered with irregular, granular to flattened isidia.

Thallus: K+ purple

In Scotland, Caloplaca verruculifera is found on nutrient-rich siliceous and calcareous rocks and fenceposts, especially when used as bird perches, along the coast. BLS distribution map
