Campylium stellatum

English name: Yellow starry feather-moss

A pleurocarpous moss with pale or yellow-green, sparsely branched shoots. The tip of the stem leaves often stands at right angles to the stem, which gives the shoots a star-like appearance when seen from above. This leaf tip is channelled or tubular.

In Scotland, Campyllium stellatum is widespread in upland and some coastal areas where it is found in slightly base-rich mires, flushes and dune-slacks. BBS distribution map
