Campylopus pyriformis

English name: Dwarf swan-neck moss

An acrocarpous moss that is yellow-green to mid-green. Patches are often covered with deciduous leaves and look characteristically untidy. The leaves are more or less straight when moist, but become somewhat wavy when dry. Capsules are held on a seta that curves down so that the capsule is held between the leaves.

Capsules mature in spring and early summer.

In Scotland, Campylopus pyriformis is widespread in woodland and moorland where it grows on bare, acidic peaty and sandy soil, especially where disturbed. BBS distribution map
