Candelariella coralliza

A crustose species with a bright golden yellow thallus, that never shows a hint of orange. The thallus is thick and areolate and shows deep cracking. The granules are rounded, even-sized and tightly packed. Apothecia are rare. 

In Scotland, Candelariella coralliza is widespread in mainly rural and coastal areas where it grows on siliceous rocks that are well-lit and used by birds to perch on. BLS distribution map
