Cladonia humilis

A species in which the basal squamules are rounded with notched tips. The podetia are short with the rim of the cup often being as wide as the podetium is high. Stalks may expand from the base or abruptly near the rim. The lower part of the podetium is corticate and the upper part sorediate.

In Scotland, Cladonia humilis has a scattered distribution and found on recently disturbed dry and sandy soils, including seacliffs, roadsides and gardens. BLS distribution map
