English name: Comb moss

A pleurocarpous moss that forms loose, closely branched, yellowish green patches. The long leaves are broadly triangular and strongly curved under. The tip of the branches is often hooked and seems more shiny than the rest of the branch.

In Scotland, Ctenidium molluscum is widespread in upland areas where it is found on rock and soil in base-rich habitats such as woods, scree, flushes and grassland. BBS distribution map
