Degelia atlantica

Revised name: Pectinia atlantica

A foliose species with a bluish grey, thick and plate-like thallus. The lobes have fan-shaped ridges and are covered in grey, rather large, knob-like isidia that become confluent and may cover entire surface of the thallus. When present, the orange-brown apothecia darken with age.

In Scotland, Degelia atlantica is confined to the west coast where it grows on shaded, mossy broad-leaved trees in sheltered, humid woods and sometimes on mossy rocks. BLS distribution map
