Diploschistes scruposus

A crustose species with a thick, warted thallus that is lead-grey with often a noticeably yellow tinge. The usually abundant apothecia are urceolate and have a black disc that is white-pruinose. The thalline margin is raised above the thallus.

In Scotland, Diploschistes scruposus is widespread, except for the northern parts of the Highlands. It is found on siliceous or somewhat basic rocks, especially where nutrient-enriched. BLS distribution map
