Hypocenomyce friesii

New name: Xylopsora friesii

A squamulose species with greyish green to dark brown squamules that are usually adpressed. The margins of the squamules are entire, crenulate or incised, but not upturned. It is usually fertile with black discs.

Thallus: C-, K-; medulla: UV+ white

In Scotland, Hypocenomyce friesii is almost restricted to the central uplands where it is found on the bark and lignum of Scots pine in relict pinewoods. BLS distribution map
