Icmadophila ericetorum

A distinctive, crustose species with a light blue-grey, granular thallus that turns green when wet or shaded. The flesh-pink apothecia may be sessile or short-stalked. The disc is convex and often cortorted and slightly pruinose, while the margins become excluded over time.

In Scotland, Icmadophila ericetorum is common in The Highlands where it grows on damp peat and rotting wood, especially in exposed moorland. BLS distribution map
