Ionaspis lacustris

A distinctive crustose species with a cream to orange thallus which is smooth and slightly cracked and that has a reddish brown prothallus. There are usually numerous apothecia with orange to brown, concave discs.

Ionaspis lacustris is widespread on siliceous rocks by rivers and lakes and in freshwater seepage tracks in upland Scotland. BLS distribution map
