Lecania aipospila

A crustose lichen with a pale grey to grey-brown, rough and warted thallus that is often tinged blue or mauve and limited by a pale prothallus. Apothecia have red-brown to almost black discs and a margin that is the same colour as the thallus.

In Scotland, Lecania aipospila occurs locally along the coast where it prefers rocks that have been subject to bird-manuring. BLS distribution map
