Lecanora dispersa

New name: Myriolecis dispersa

A crustose species with a white or very light grey, finely granular thallus, that is often thin or evanescent. The apothecia are rather evenly scattered over the surface and have a pale greenish grey to dark brown disc that is often white-pruinose. The margin is entire, but may become slightly crenulate or pruinose.

Thallus: C-, K-, UV- or UV+- yellow

Lecanora dispersa is found throughout Scotland on nutrient-rich, basic saxicolous substrata, including mortared church walls. BLS distribution map

On mortared church walls, Lecanora dispersa is often found alongside Caloplaca holocarpa and Lecanora albescens.

Lecanora dispersa is distinguished from Lecanora albescens on basis of the apothecia being set in a thallus that is thin or absent rather than thick and almost placodioid.
