Lecidea fuscoatra

A distinctive crustose species with a grey to grey-brown thallus that is thick and areolate right up to the edge of the thallus. There is a black prothallus. The apothecia are sunken into or between areoles and have a black, but often grey-pruinose, disc and a persistent margin.

In Scotland, Lecidea fuscoatra is widespread on rather smooth and often slightly nutrient-rich siliceous rocks in upland areas. BLS distribution map
