Lophocolea bidentata

English name: Bifid crestwort

A leafy liverwort that is pale green, translucent bilobed. The leaf lobes are drawn out into a narrow point and the underleaves have an additional tooth on each side. The species is strongly aromatic.

Sporophytes present from January to August.

In Scotland, Lophocolea bidentata is widespread in damp habitats such as woodland, heathland and grassland. BBS distribution map
