Lophozia incisa

Revised name: Schistochilopsis incisa

English name: Jagged notchwort

A leafy liverwort with opaque, pale green shoots and jaggedly toothed, bilobed leaves that often forms rosettes.

In Scotland, Lophozia incisa is widespread in upland areas where it is a pioneer on Sphagnum and moist peaty banks in bogs, peat cuttings and damp moorland. It is also found in open woodland on stumps and rotting logs. BBS distribution map

Look out for Diplophyllum albicans, Lepidozia reptans and Dicranum scoparium nearby.
