Lunularia cruciata

English name: Crescent-cup liverwort

A thallose liverwort that forms large, shiny pale green thalli that are dichotomously branched that are dotted with tiny, but conspicuous pores. The distinctive feature of this liverwort is the crescent-shaped gemmae cups.

In Scotland, Lunularia cruciata is widespread in populated areas where it is found on the damp bases of walls, paths and soil. BBS distribution map
