Metzgeria furcata

English name: Forked veilwort

A leafy liverwort with yellowish green thalli that have a thick midrib and forked tips. The margins of the lobes are flat or slightly downcurved and have a line of hairs scattered along them.

In Scotland, Metzgeria furcata is widespread on trees and shrubs like ash, sycamore and willow, and on rocks and walls. BBS distribution map

Look out for Frullania dilitata, Orthotrichum affine, Ulota phyllantha and Zygodon viridissimus nearby.
