Nephroma laevigatum

A foliose species with brown-grey to red-brown, shiny, short lobes. Small lobules may form where the edge of lobes has been damaged. Apothecia form on the lower surface of lobe tips that, in turn, recurve to reveal those apothecia.

Medulla: K+ purple

In Scotland, Nephroma laevigatum is mainly found in the central and western Highlands where it grows on mossy trees in damp, oceanic woodlands. BLS distribution map
