Orthotrichum lyellii

Revised name: Pulvigera lyellii

English name: Lyell’s bristle-moss

An acrocarpous moss which forms loose tufts which are dusted with reddish brown, spinter-like gemmae.

In Scotland, Orthotrichum lyellii has a lowland and coastal distribution where it is found on a wide range of trees, including hazel, elder and willow. BBS distribution map
