Pohlia wahlenbergii

English name: Pale glaucous thread-moss

A distinctive acrocarpous moss with pale glaucous green or almost white shoots and red stems. The pear-shaped capsules are pendulous.

In Scotland, Pohlia wahlenbergii is widespread in moist and wet habitats such as the sides of roads, woodland rides and ditches, marshes, and the vicinity of wet rocks in ravines. BBS distribution map

Look out for Calliergonella cuspidata, Cratoneuron filicinum, Philonotis fontana and Tortula truncata nearby.
