English name: Broad scalewort
A leafy liverwort that grows in thick mounts or carpets that consist of relatively large shoots with broad leaves, lobules and underleaves that often curl upwards at the front edges.
In Scotland, Porella obtusata is local along the west coast and east coast where it characteristic of base-rich or acid low-lying rocks near the sea, sometimes just above the high-water mark. BBS distribution map
