Psoroma hypnorum

A distinctive, squamulose species with a green to orange-brown thallus that consists of small squamules that are sometimes almost granular, and that look bright green when wet. Scattered over the surface are cephalodia that may be similar in appearance to the thallus or smooth, rounded and brownish in colour. Apothecia are brown to red-brown, with a wide thalline margin that is often knobbly lobate.

In Scotland, Psoroma hypnorum is mainly confined to mossy, damp shaded trees, siliceous rocks and soil in the central and western Highlands. BLS distribution map
