Racomitrium lanuginosum

English name: Woolly fringe-moss

A distinctive acrocarpous moss that is immediately recognised by its grey-green appearance and leaves with long, white hairpoints that have toothed margins.

In Scotland, Racomitrium lanuginosum is widespread on stony mountain plateaus, scree, old quarries, moorland and on drystane walls. BBS distribution map
