English name: Sickle-leaved hook-moss
A distinctive pleurocarpous moss with pale green shoots that may grow upright or hang in wefts. Leaves are very narrow, pleated and strongly curved in one direction so as to form complete loops.
Capsules mature in spring and summer.
In Scotland, Sanonia uncinata is widespread on boulder tops, gravelly stream edges, ledges on montane cliffs and on willow in wet woodland. BBS distribution map
