Scoliciosporum umbrinum

A crustose species with a grey-green, green-brown to black thallus that is areolate or dries out to thin, powdery, scattered flakes. Apothecia are very dark brown to black and become very convex.

In Scotland, Scoliciosporum umbrinum is widespread in coastal and upland areas. It is found on substrata ranging from more or less basic to siliceous rocks, including gravestones, and branches and twigs and metal. BLS distribution map
