Sphagnum denticulatum

English name: Cow-horn bog-moss

A bog-moss with green, yellow-brown or dull coppery red shoots that may have a hint of purple. The outer capitulum branches are swollen, smooth in outline and with pointed, and at least some of these branches are curved.

In Scotland, Sphagnum denticulatum is widespread in wet woodland, bog pools, irrigated rock slabs and oligotrophic springs and flushes. BBS distribution map
