English name: Yellow crisp-moss
An acrocarpous moss that forms low, yellow-green tufts. When moist, the tongue-shaped leaves have slightly wavy margins, when dry, they are curled up and contorted. On dry plants, the colourless leaf base hugs the stem.
In Scotland, Tortella flavovirens has a scattered coastal distribution where it is found on stable sand in calcareous sand dunes, on soil slopes below cliffs and in crevices in coastal rocks. BBS distribution map
