Umbilicaria cylindrica

A foliose species with a pale to dark grey thallus, that is often brownish and pruinose. The lobe margins are wavy, curling upwards, and usually fringed with stiff dark fibrils. The apothecia are black and gyrose.

Umbilicaria cylindrica occurs mainly in central and northwestern Scotland where it is found on well-lit, coarse grained, siliceous rocks in upland situations. BLS distribution map
