Lecanora varia

A crustose species that usually has a thallus that consists of scattered, rounded granules which may form a yellowish grey to grey-green, areolate crust. The apothecia are often crowded and have yellow-brown to green-brown discs that may be pruinose. The margin is thin, persistent and characteristically distorted.

Thallus: C-, K+- pale yellow, UV+- dull orange

In Scotland, Lecanora varia has a mainly eastern and southern distribution where it is found on tree stumps and wooden fences. BLS distribution map
