Melanelixia fuliginosa

A foliose lichen with a dark green-brown (when wet) to almost black thallus with densely packed, glossy, small isidia at the centre, where they may obscure the thallus.

Melanelixia fuliginosa is distinguished from Melanelixia glabratula and Melanelixia subaurifera by its very dark brown thallus, velvet appearance and occurrence mainly on stone.
