A granular-leprose lichen species that is bright sulphureous yellow. The granules sometimes form an areolate crust.

In Scotland, Psilolechia lucida is widespread except for some areas in the north. It is found on sheltered, shaded rocks in humid situations, such as crevices between rocks of dykes. BLS distribution map
Psilolechia lucida is distinguished from Chrysothrix chlorina on basis of its completely powdery thallus that is yellow-green and slightly less brightly coloured.
