Ramalina cuspidata

A fruticose species with a shiny, cream to yellow-green, pendant thallus that is usually a blackened at the base The pycnidial ostioles are black.

With the exception from North-East Scotland Ramalina cuspidata occurs along most of the Scottish coastline on wind-exposed, siliceous, seashore rocks. BLS distribution map

Ramalina cuspidata is distinguished from Ramalina siliquosa on basis of the more distinctly pendant and narrower lobes, the blackened base and black, rather than pale or concolorous, pycnidial ostioles. It is distinguished from Ramalina subfarinacea by the absence of soredia.
