Bryoria capillaris

A fruticose species with a greyish white to pale or dark brown, pendant thallus that can be blackish in areas. The base of the thallus frequently decays away. When present, soralia may be abundant.

Medulla: C+- red, K+ yellow

In Scotland, Bryoria capillaris is restricted to the wider Cairngorms area where it is found in old birch and conifer forests. BLS distribution map
