Cladonia furcata

A distinctive species with brown-grey to olive-brown podetia that may have a purplish tinge. The smooth podetia branch dichotomously and at a narrow angle, and have a mosaic of lighter coloured patches and sometimes peeling squamules. The podetia end in pointed tips.

Thallus: C-, K+- yellow, UV-Cladonia furcata is common on acid heathland, coastal sand dunes and on soil and mossy rocks in woodland throughout Scotland. BLS distribution map
