Lecanora polytropa

A crustose species with a yellow-green thallus that often consists of scattered granules or areoles, and may have a dark prothallus. The areoles have a flat, smooth surface, but are frequently obscured by the apothecia. The apothecia are pale yellow to yellow-green. Mature apothecia become convex and often exclude the paler margin.

Lecanora polytropa is common throughout Scotland where it is found in less polluted areas on siliceous rocks, including gravestones. BLS distribution map
