Lecanora pulicaris

A crustose species with a grey to yellowish grey, smooth or warted thallus that forms neat orbicular patches that may be limited by a light or dark prothallus. The apothecia have red-brown to black discs and persistent, thin margin.

In Scotland, Lecanora pulicaris is widespread except for some upland areas. It grows on the twigs and branches of acid-bark trees or bare wood such as fenceposts. BLS distribution map

Lecanora pulicaris is distinguished from Lecanora chlarotera on basis of the neater appearance and darker discs.
