Lecanora chlarotera

A crustose species with a grey to creamy grey thallus that is smooth or warted and lacks a prothallus. There are usually numerous apothecia with buff to red-brown discs and smooth or slightly crenulate margins.

Lecanora chlarotera is often found alongside Lecidella elaeochroma and Arthonia radiata in a pioneer community on deciduous trees.

Lecanora chlarotera is distinguished from Lecanora pulicaris on basis of the apothecial discs being less dark.
