Lecidella elaeochroma

A distinctive, crustose species that can form extensive mosaics of smooth or slightly granular thalli that are limited by a black prothallus. The thallus is yellow-grey to yellow-green and usually fertile with black apothecia that may be reddish in shade. The discs are concave but become convex with age. The form Lecidella elaeochroma f. soralifera has yellow to green farinose soralia scattered over the surface.

Lecidella elaeochroma is often found alongside Lecanora chlarotera and Arthonia radiata in a pioneer community on deciduous trees.
