Miriquidica leucophaea

A crustose lichen with an areolate, flat to warted or slightly lobate, glossy thallus that is pale grey or pale brown grey. The apothecia are usually abundant and immersed before becoming sessile and convex. The dark brown or black disc are paler when wet and have a slightly darker rim.

Thallus: C-, K-. Exciple: C+- faint pink

Though occurring across Scotland, Miriquidica leucophaea occurs mainly in upland areas on siliceous and metal-rich rock. BLS distribution map
