Peltigera britannica

A distinctive foliose species with a smooth thallus that is grey to brown when dry and bright green when wet. The large, rounded and wavy-edged lobes have dark, irregularly shaped cephalodia on the upper surface that leave white scares when removed.

In Scotland, Peltigera britannica is more of less restricted to the Central Highlands where it can be found in sheltered, acidic habitats that are consistently damp, including mossy rocks and trees. BLS distribution map
