Below an overview of lichen species found in upland, lowland and coastal churchyards in North-East Scotland. These species are all saxicolous and terricolous species as found growing on the church itself, gravestones, in grass and on soil in between the graves and on the boundary wall to the churchyard. Though representing a good cross section of the most common churchyard species in Scotland, the list doesn’t necessarily represent all species found in churchyards in other parts of Scotland.
