Lichens of pine and upland birchwoods

Below an overview of lichen species found in pinewoods, upland birchwood and conifer plantations in Deeside. The species included can be found on bark, dead wood, rock, and soil, and many of the species can be found on moorland as well. Though representing a good cross section of the most common species found, this picture gallery doesn’t necessarily represent species found elsewhere in Scotland.
